The common response from the left upon discovery of a black conservative is to lash out in racial anger. Dr. Ben Carson has recently found himself on the receiving end of such attacks after when he spoke up in defense of American liberty against the onslaught of Obamunism.
Speaking with Megyn Kelly of Fox News, he noted his critics feel that “if you look a certain way, then you have to stay on the plantation:”Leave a comment >>
Bill Maher would be one of the last people you’d will go off on a rant against moochers, but he actually made a fairly cogent case against growing dependency.
So, basically what Mitt Romney was saying was, you know, ‘these spongers, these grifters, these people I wouldn’t piss on if their ass was on fire because they don’t pay in.’ But it’s not really 47%. Here’s my question — it’s not 0% either, takers. I mean there are a lot of dirtbags in this country. And I think it’s somewhere in between 47 and 0. I think we should split the difference and say we have 23.5% dirtbags in America. I do. Like the Octomom. California pays — we pay to feed and clothe and spay and neuter her children and she’s not giving back to society.
…Listen to this about disability, people who take disability, who are on disability. In 1968, it was 51 to 1, people on disability to people who worked. In 2001, not that long ago, it was 23 to 1. Now it’s 13 to 1. 13 to 1, who are on disability. Of course, some of that is real. We are an overworked, overstressed, polluted, ripped off and lied to people. I mean, obviously there are some people who really do have disability. But 13 to 1, you know, it just seems like there are less people pulling the wagon and more people in the wagon. And at some point the wagon is going to break.
But let’s not get too excited about Bill Maher’s prospects of seeing the light. This is, after all, the same guy who described the Republican Party as “overtly racist bullshit thinly painted over,” and accused Republican primary voters of considering someone “misogynist, racist and homophobic” to be a “good start.” He also said that global warming is turning the US into a third-world country, and found Dick Cheney’s hunting habits more reprehensible than Anthony Weiner’s titillating tweets. And when it comes to big government and excessive handouts, he lamented that cutting just $40 billion from the massive federal budget was “very bad news for … poor people,” while claiming that the Founding Fathers would have hated the Tea Party.Leave a comment >>

A Wisconsin activist was arrested Tuesday at the state Capitol building just hours before Governor Scott Walker was to deliver his State of the State Address to Wisconsin lawmakers.
The man, Kvon R. Smith, had reportedly used Facebook to threaten to do harm at the Capitol. Law enforcement was ready for him and arrested him as he attempted to enter the building. Smith then reportedly claimed to have a Molotov cocktail in his backpack. Police evacuated portions of the capitol building and a bomb squad reportedly arrived and handled the backpack. Police did not say whether or not the backpack contained the explosive device the man allegedly claimed it did.
A search of the man’s apparent Twitter account reveals deep sympathies for Palestinians, support for other liberal and far-left causes, and claims of previous felony charges. Smith has also expressed support for the newest leftist movement, which previous Occupy supporters are beginning to flock to, named “Idle No More.” Less than 24 hours before being arrested, Smith stated on Facebook: “I’m in support of the Idle No More Movement.”
The ugliness of identity politics once against rears its ugly head, this time from liberals on twitter targeting Tim Scott of South Carolina, just appointed by Gov. Nikki Hailey to fill the seat of departing Sen. Jim DeMint, with racial attacks.
Some of the lowlights (Hat-tip: Twitchy):
@liberalphenom Just bcz Halley is appointing Uncle Ruckus aka Tim Scott doesnt mean GOP cares abt minorities

Lots more examples of liberal tolerance at the twitchy link, and it fits a longstanding pattern of leftwing attacks on black conservatives.Leave a comment >>
Folks, I know the site hasn’t been updated much recently, but it’s not going away. The recent election and its aftermath has definitively demonstrated that the left needs to be held more accountable. I’ve recently freed up time to spend on this project and growing the database, so expect Left of the Mark to play a key role in keeping honest those who hold power.Leave a comment >>
