David Axelrod is a Chicago-style politico and was strategist to longtime Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, whose 22 year tenure eventually become bogged down by corruption scandals. He was a top political advisor to President Bill Clinton as well as campaign advisor to President Barack Obama in 2008. President Obama appointed him Senior Advisor after his election. Axelrod left this White House in 2011 to join Obama’s reelection campaign.
