Fareed Zakaria describes himself as a centrist, but exposed his liberalism while supporting far-left radical Barack Obama for President in 2008. Unlike many media talking-heads, Zakaria actually has a solid academic background in the area for which he is considered an expert. Nevertheless, maintaining his stature within the mainstream media community requires frequent repetition of pop, pseudo-political science maxims confirming the leftist world view.
“[T]he Europeans do much better [on social mobility]. The American dream seems to be thriving in Europe, not at home.”
“I would enact a 50 percent inheritance tax, because nothing is more un-American than an inherited elite that perpetuates itself.”
“The good news is that the American economy is back to its precrisis size. The U.S. GDP is now about $13.5 trillion, a bit above what it was in 2007, before the financial crisis. The bad news is that we are producing the same amount of goods and services as in 2007 with 7 million fewer workers.”
